Dr. Raymond Leroy Murray, professor emeritus and pioneer of the atomic age, was born on February 14, 1920 in Lincoln, Nebraska and died June 22, 2011 in Raleigh, North Carolina. He received his B.S. degree in education in 1940, M.S. degree in physics and mathematics in 1941 both from the University of Nebraska and his Ph.D in physics from the University of Tennessee in 1950.
